The Dreaded Website Update: July 2025
I have been putting this off for ages, well over a year in fact. And that is a pity, because there has been so much new art to show in that time, all languishing in portfolios unseen. But it is time to update this site and show some of the work I’ve been creating over the last year. Plus, the site needed a good dusting off anyway. So here we go.
A little housekeeping then: the last year has been busy. Lots of art was made, but also there were lots of changes. I expanded my multi-media practice to include more printing (block and mono-print), and I began experimenting with ways to add oil-based media to water-based media. While the prospects of the experiment were really exciting, the results were a bit disappointing. Back to the drawing board, right?
I also relocated from Oklahoma to Montana. The geographical change has been a personal boon, a professional adventure, and an artistic revelation. I am working the same sorts of art media combinations as before, but the change in scenery has done wonders for my creativity. Montana has some of the most gorgeous vistas and fascinating terrain, expansive mountain ranges, and also flatter landscapes. Really, there is something for every artistic taste. I am reveling in the change.
Before I left Oklahoma, I donated a vast amount of art supplies to save room in the moving process. This is a benefit as it has forced me to work with a more “limited palette” of supplies. But, knowing my need to explore supplies and shop online, I suspect I will get my collection of art materials built back up in no time.
I also was able to find homes for a large number of paintings that I simply didn’t have the room to bring with me to Montana. Some of them I had for nearly 20 years Some were one-time favorites. Some represented formative events in my artistic journey. Without them hanging around in the periphery though, I essentially got to start over with all new art! A new beginning.
So there we are. New home, new opportunities, new art. Same drive to create and the same love of the creative process.
